Parmigiani Fleurier has done it again — and this time, they've pulled off what might be the most audacious act of horological sleight of hand we've ever seen at Watches and Wonders. Meet the Tonda PF Chronographe Mystérieux. From the front, it looks like a clean, minimalist three-hander. Mineral blue dial. Barleycorn guilloché. Excellent case finishing. Elegant as ever. Nothing to see here. Until there is everything to see here. Press the monopusher at 7:30, and the watch transforms. The rhodium-plated chronograph hands execute an instantaneous flyback reset and immediate start, while the rose gold hour and minute hands, which were silently keeping time behind the scenes the whole time, emerge into view. Stop the chronograph with a second press, and the elapsed time reads like… time. You read the chronograph the exact same way you read the hours and minutes. Then, with a final press, everything resets — rhodium hands snap back to meet the rose gold, and the seconds hand resumes its natural sweep. Parmigiani Fleurier call it private luxury.
