The name Breguet is mostly associated with the tourbillon, but is credited with much, much more. Just think of the self-winding movement, the first wrist-watch, the Para-Chute shock absorber, and, of course, the Souscription model. Steeped in such history, Breguet remains open to innovation on all fronts, with the typical 'unmistakable signs' the Maison is known for. This coming together of past, present, and future is perhaps best represented by the Tradition collection, first introduced in 2005 and revamped earlier this year. The Tradition collection perhaps best embodies Breguet's true horological watchmaking vision, which essentially re-created a pocket watch movement for a wristwatch. The construction closely resembles that of the Souscription pocket watch. Key elements such as the central barrel, stepped bridges and off-centred dial with exposed mechanics are still found in today's models. Yet it's about more than just showing off. It's a matter of presenting watchmaking savoir-faire in such a way that pays homage to Breguet's founding father, as well as the Maison's expertise and drive for innovation.
