True grit | C63 True GMT
True grit. The story of the C63 True GMT starts three years ago. For Technical Director Frank Stelzer, the process began with CW-001. Using our five-day, twin-barrel movement as the foundation, the challenge was to integrate an entirely new GMT mechanism without increasing the calibre’s height. That meant rethinking the architecture from within. The solution? 23 component changes in total – 16 newly designed parts and seven modified from the existing movement – all carefully engineered to make space for the new complication while keeping the profile slim and wearable. A new plate was developed to support the GMT wheel and control the height of the added components: a small detail, but a critical step in bringing CW-002 to life. Designed for frequent travellers, a true GMT allows the local hour hand to jump independently while the GMT hand keeps track of home time – a sophisticated complication often reserved to just a few brands. As Frank puts it: taking something that seems impossible and saying, “OK, challenge accepted.” Where will you take yours?
